Front Street Blues with Lan Nichols

Saturday 11:00 pm - Midnight

If any one individual has been associated with the successful production and promotion of Blues music in the Port City, it's Lan Nichols.  He's the director of the Cape Fear Blues Festival, a pro-active member of the Cape Fear Blues Society, and an ardent bassist with an ear for all things retro.  Lan's duties as producer and host of WHQR's Front Street Blues include spinning classic, traditional, and contemporary tunes, peppered with flavors from all across the Blues map.  FSB also welcomes submissions from local and regional performers, offering them exposure to a discerning audience.  Is there a favorite Blues artist or song you'd like to suggest for airplay?  Drop FSB a line at  And keep listening!

A steady influence on the soul of Chicago blues for decades, Jon McDonald has walked a path that few musicians could ever hope to tread. His 13-year tenure as band leader for Magic Slim & The Teardrops is, by itself, epic. He's worked alongside Hubert Sumlin, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, and shared the stage with everyone from Taj Mahal and Paul Butterfield, to Rory Gallagher and Les Paul.
