NC Unemployment Dips Slightly in October
According to the most recent report from the North Carolina Labor and Economic Analysis Division, the state unemployment rate decreased in October. WHQR’s Sara Wood reports it dropped slightly to 9.3 percent.
That figure is only slightly lower than September, but compared to one year ago, it’s dropped more than one full percentage point. During October, the number of people unemployed decreased by 2 percent. The leisure and hospitality industry experienced the largest growth, gaining 3,600 jobs. Industries following close behind were Trade, Transportation & Utilities, and manufacturing and construction. While the national unemployment rate increased slightly in October to 7.9 percent, that’s one percent less than one year ago.
