These days you can hear Bob from 4 to 6 p.m. on All Things Considered, and he's responsible for programming WHQR's daytime classical music service. Bob began his public radio career at the University of South Florida, working in almost every area of public radio. From Tampa, he went on to WCBU (Bradley University) in Peoria, Illinois, then to WFDD at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. Bob reported to WHQR for his first tour of duty as program director in 2006, returning as Morning Edition host in 2010.
Bob writes about the arts for Star-News Media. Since 2009 he has appeared with Opera House Theatre Company in roles including Tony in Frank Loesser's The Most Happy Fella, for which he won a Star-News Wilmington Theater Award for best actor in a musical, Bock & Harnick's She Loves Me, and as Javert in Les Miserables. Bob's is one of the voices on children's iPhone applications for Once Upon An App, and he has provided the museum narration for exhibits in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and several sites in North Carolina. His son and daughter, Ben and Julia, are his pride and joy.
