Midday Interview: Daniel Metz on "Hide and Seek"

Daniel Metz is the producer, co-writer and one of the five actors in a new feature film called Hide and Seek. The film will be shown TONIGHT at 7 pm at Thalian Hall for Cucalorus. Born in Boston, Daniel currently lives in London with his wife Joanna Coates, who is director and also co-writer of the film. Hide and Seek follows four young people who flee the cynicism and financial pressures of the big city and establish their own commune in the country.

Midday Interview: Rabbi Shuviel Ma'aravi and Josh Polak on Stone Soup Concerts

Susan Savia hosts a series called the Stone Soup Concerts. Her latest edition of Stone Soup features Rabbi Shuviel Ma'aravi and Josh Polak performing folk music from many traditions including Ladina, Chassidic, Sephardic, Celtic, American and contemporary folk. You can hear a sample of the Ladino song 'Alta, Alta Es La Luna' (High, High is the Moon) at the end of the interview.  They will be at B'nai Israel Synagogue TONIGHT at 7 pm (doors at 6:30 pm), 2601 Chestnut Street. Tickets are available at the door for $15.

Midday Interview: Kegan Dubar & Mike Thompson "It Takes Two, Take Two: Songs from the Silver Screen"

Thalian Association Community Theatre hosts a benefit concert called "It Takes Two, Take Two: Songs From the Silver Screen." It features great music from the movies, performed by adult and youth pairs in a wonderful collaboration. It was so successful last year (originally called "It Takes Two: Songs from the Great White Way), that creator/director Mike Thompson was inspired to stage something similar again. Mike was today's guest,  along with dancer and Youth Host Kegan Dubar; a junior at New Hanover County High School.

Midday Interview: Susan M. Steadman and Elaine Nalee on "What Doesn't Kill Me"

A new theatre company, Outrageous Pelican Productions, presents its first show - a night of three one act plays -  called "What Doesn't Kill Me..."   Playwright and company co-founder (with Nicole Farmer) Susan M. Midday Interview: Anthony Reynolds

Anthony Reynolds has been acting onscreen since 1993, but since 2001 he has also been producing films. His latest effort, an intense 22-minute short film called Times Like Dying, will be shown at Cucalorus on Thursday, November 13 at 7:15 at Thalian Hall. It is set in the mountains of NC in the year 1887, when the railroad is buying the farmer's land at a pittance to expand the railroad.  When the Dixon brothers won't sell to the bank someone kills all their cattle, and the situation only worsens from there. Midday Interview: Kim Williams and Charles Evans on the Long Bay Symphony

Today's guests are from the Long Bay Symphony, a professional organization based in Myrtle Beach, SC. New Executive Director Kim Williams and continuing Artistic Director Charles Evans told us about the orchestra, its chamber music group, its educational outreach programs, and their next concert. On Sunday at 4 pm at Myrtle Beach High School, the Long Bay Symphony will hold their next concert. The program is Tchaikovsky and the Romantic Spirit, featuring the music of Brahms, Victor Herbert and Tchaikovsky.
