Offshore oil and gas exploration:  could it come to the North Carolina coast? 

Waters along the eastern seaboard from Virginia to Georgia are included in a draft plan released by the Obama Administration at the end of last month.  If the area is not, at some point, excluded from the proposal,  lease sales could happen by 2021.

It’s the thirty-second annual Business Week at UNCW’s Cameron School of Business--meaning dozens of prominent alumni and executives have descended upon the Port City, to share their knowledge of marketing, entrepreneurship and information technology. Each year, programming is tailored to reflect Cape Fear-specific business trends. And today’s trajectories point to “worthy cause marketing” and a rise in regional craft breweries and wine startups.

Just south of one-point-one billion dollars:  that’s the total economic impact the University of North Carolina – Wilmington has on the surrounding community – according to a newly-released study.
